Cambridge Finnish School Welcomes You!
Cambridge Finnish Saturday School was founded in 1974 as the second Finnish school in
Great Britain. We are part of a global network of Finnish Saturday schools
funded by the Finnish National Board of Education
(www.opetushallitus.fi) for
teaching language and culture to children aged 3-18 who speak Finnish as their
first or second language. Our umbrella organisation in the UK is Finn-Guild
(www.finn-guild.org).
Our small but lively school attracts students from all over Cambridgeshire,
East-Anglia and Northamptonshire. We encourage and help our students and their
families to maintain and improve their language skills - be they bilingual
children or
adults learning Finnish as a new language - and promote awareness and interest
of the Finnish culture and traditions.
We are also a centre for the Finnish community in the area. You are welcome to pop in on any school day for a coffee or to buy Finnish goodies in our little shop, and we have a library of Finnish books and magazines to browse through and borrow.
